Primark's new Belted Funnel Neck Mac, priced at £28, has been described as virtually identical to a Tommy Hilfiger trench coat that retails for £260, a difference of £232. The coat is part of the retailer's AW26 drop in its Paula Echevarría line and has already gained attention on TikTok.
A designer look for under £30
The coat features a military-style double breasted front, adjustable belted waist and shoulder epaulettes, making it look similar to high-end designs. The funnel neckline and boxy, cropped design give the traditional trench an upgrade. Available in sizes XS to XL, the neutral beige hue is designed to be worn with virtually everything.
Tommy Hilfiger's Brown Cotton Crop Trench Jacket, which shares the same style, features and colourway, is currently on offer at Next for £130, still £102 more expensive than Primark's version.
Influencers urge shoppers to 'run'
The £28 trench has caught the attention of numerous fashion influencers on TikTok. User meganamelia.x, who shared a reel of herself trying it on, wrote: "The most perfect jacket for autumn." Fellow influencer @laurynegriffiths encouraged shoppers with a reel captioned: "Girlies run to Primark I Penneys for the viral funnel neck trench. Obsessed and only £28."
Another influencer, @jasmineregmi, shared a try-on reel, saying "I will have to get this because I really like the darker tan colour" and adding "this is coming home with me".
Other trench options in store
Primark also offers the Adaptive Double-Breasted Trench Coat at £40, which features magnetic fastenings, zips on the sleeves and a waist tie belt. The Double Breasted Trench Coat, part of a line curated by Coleen Rooney, is also available at £28. The viral Belted Funnel Mac and other trench coats are available in Primark stores now.
