Pizza Express Expands UK Menu with Baked Chicken Wings and Mac & Cheese
Pizza Express is broadening its culinary offerings beyond traditional pizzas by introducing chicken wings and mac & cheese across all its UK locations. This strategic move aims to tap into the burgeoning chicken sector and meet rising customer demand for diverse menu options.
Launch of the 'Mac & Wings' Delivery Brand
The new 'Mac & Wings' brand will debut nationwide from March 3, available in over 300 Pizza Express sites. Initially, these items will be offered exclusively for delivery through Deliveroo, with potential plans to expand into physical restaurants in the future.
CEO Paula MacKenzie highlighted that this initiative is a direct response to significant growth in the chicken market and strong feedback from customers seeking more variety. She emphasised that the chicken wing products will be baked, not fried, setting Pizza Express apart from many competitors who typically use frying methods.
Strategic Growth and Customer Focus
This expansion is part of Pizza Express's broader growth ambitions, as the chain seeks to capitalise on current food trends. By offering baked alternatives, the company aims to appeal to health-conscious consumers while maintaining flavour and quality.
The introduction of mac & cheese alongside chicken wings provides a comforting and familiar option that complements the existing pizza menu. This move is expected to enhance the brand's appeal and drive sales in the competitive UK food delivery market.
As Pizza Express ventures into this new territory, it remains open to further developments, including the possibility of integrating 'Mac & Wings' into its dine-in experiences. This flexibility underscores the chain's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in a rapidly evolving industry.
