Philips shaver halved to £59.99 on Amazon

Shoppers have just hours left to snap up the Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series on Amazon, where it has been reduced by 50% to £59.99, down from £119.99. The deal is due to end on Sunday, August 23.

Features and design

The shaver is designed to provide a close, comfortable shave while making it easy to tidy up facial hair with its built-in pop-up trimmer. It uses 27 self-sharpening PowerCut blades, cutting up to 55,000 times per minute to deliver an even shave.

Its 5D Pivot & Flex Heads move in five directions to follow the contours of the face and cut hair close to the skin. For added flexibility, it can be used either wet or dry, including in the shower, while the ergonomic handle is designed to provide a secure grip.

Battery and charging

Philips says the self-sharpening steel blades are designed to maintain their performance for up to two years, regardless of beard length. The set includes the Series 3000 electric shaver, a protective cap and a USB-A charging cable, allowing it to be charged using a compatible USB power adapter without needing a dedicated charger.

Alternatives and reviews

Elsewhere, Currys has the Remington Wet & Dry Rotary Head Shaver in Black for £67.99. This one has a flexible neck and blades that adapt to the contours of people’s heads for a ‘super smooth shave’. It has five cutting heads and is said to be able to shave the whole head in under two minutes.

Argos then has the Braun 52 Electric Shaver for £64.99, down from £136. It offers two shave modes to suit routines and offers 50 minutes of cordless runtime.

The Philips Electric Shaver 3000 Series has a 4.5 out of five-star rating from more than 6,000 reviews on Amazon. One person said: “I got this Philips shaver to replace a very old one that wasn’t cutting well. This one is great, especially at this price, it cuts surprisingly close. Nothing can beat a wet shave for me, but this is great for a quick, easy and tidy shave.”

Another added: “For my dad, he was always a bit dubious of these USB types, being used to the old fashioned Philip's 240V plug type. But surprisingly he's won over, does the same job and the battery lasts much much longer than he was expecting. Comfortable shave and convenient. It's the way ahead I suppose.”

A third wrote: “Excellent, gives a close shave and fits nicely in your hand - and for the price, it's a bargain.” One reviewer removed a star, saying: “Item as described with prompt delivery. I tried out a brilliant razor. I realised this may be biased as it was bought to replace my old razor and, compared to my old razor, that’s about 20 years old now. Only disappointment was no storage pouch supplied and had to buy separately.” Another said as part of a longer review: “The motor sounds a bit cheap and built to a price. This is the first shaver that does not have a two pin shaver adaptor.”
