M&S unveils new raspberry Connie the Caterpillar cakes for Mother's Day

M&S shoppers have spotted a brand-new limited-edition flavour of Connie the Caterpillar cakes in stores, and the excitement is building online. The iconic Colin the Caterpillar has been a birthday staple since 1990, with Connie introduced as his girlfriend in 2016. Now, Connie has undergone a superhero-inspired makeover for Mother's Day this year.

The new My Hero Connie the Caterpillar Chocolate Sponge Mini Rolls feature a white chocolate face with a pink superhero mask. Instead of the usual white buttercream, they are filled with raspberry and white chocolate buttercream, smothered in milk chocolate and covered with sugar sprinkles, according to the packaging.

Social media users have been quick to react, with one person tagging a relative and saying: "Oh my god, let's go and get some!" Another commented: "Looks like an M&S snack trip is needed again soon." A third asked in disbelief: "Is this AI?"

The cakes are listed on the M&S website as a limited-edition flavour to celebrate Mother's Day on March 15. Each pack contains five mini rolls. They are suitable for vegetarians but not for those with nut allergies, and contain eggs, gluten, soya, milk, and wheat.

The website does not indicate the price, but shoppers can use M&S's store locator to check availability in their local branch.
