Marks & Spencer has reduced the price of its popular Ultimate Soft & Silky Bedding Set by up to £27, just as Britain braces for another blast of summer heat with temperatures expected to reach the 30s.
The double size is now £41.40, down from £69, while the single is reduced from £59 to £35.90. A king-size set costs £47.70, down from £79.
Cooling fabric and practical design
The bedding is made from 300 thread-count lyocell, a breathable fabric with a silky-smooth feel. It comes in a crisp white shade for a classic, hotel-style look. Features include corner loops to keep the duvet in place and anti-allergy properties that M&S says are scientifically proven to reduce dust mite allergens.
The set includes a duvet cover and pillowcase or pillowcases, depending on size. A matching fitted sheet, also 40% off, can be bought separately.
Shopper reviews
M&S shoppers have praised the bedding in reviews. One said: "I really love this bedding, it's got zips on the pillowcases and the duvet cover which makes it so easy to make. It's cool and comfortable, especially in the recent heatwave. I would definitely recommend."
Another added: "I find it to be very comfortable when paired with the bottom sheet of the same range. During the heatwave we used the duvet cover without a duvet in it. It is definitely soft and comfortable and during normal temperatures does feel soft and cool against the skin."
However, one mixed review noted: "The cover comes up very large compared to the duvet size."
Other cooling options
Cooling bedding alone may not be enough, so a quality fan could help. The Dyson PC1 Cool Air Purifier (£450, Argos) offers cooling and air purification with 350° oscillation. For a budget option, the Levoit 20dB Quiet Pedestal Fan (£99.99, Amazon) has adjustable height and covers up to 30m.
