Marks and Spencer has confirmed it will open seven new stores across the UK in 2026, as part of its ongoing expansion of its food business. The British supermarket chain previously listed 500 locations where it aims to open M&S Food stores, bringing its offering to areas that have not previously had one.
The announcement follows the opening of 15 stores already this year, including a new 13,000 square foot store in Martlesham Heath. M&S has also submitted plans to redevelop and extend the former Homebase site in South Ruislip, London.
M&S Managing Director Alex Freudmann said: 'The strong performance of our new M&S food stores gives us the confidence to explore even more locations across the UK, from Elgin to Exmouth.' He added that the chain is moving faster, with more than twenty stores opening or modernised before the end of the financial year.
The supermarket is targeting more budget-conscious customers with a range of affordable essentials. The seven new stores for 2026 are part of a wider strategy to bring the right stores to the right places and offer the best shopping experience.
