M&S £30 satin trousers praised for 'expensive' look

Marks and Spencer shoppers are praising the £30 Satin Drawstring Wide Leg Trousers for their luxurious appearance and comfortable fit, with many saying the style looks far more expensive than its price tag suggests.

The M&S Satin Drawstring Wide Leg Trousers are available in sizes 6 to 24 on the M&S website, with four different lengths and five colourways: Black, Bitter Chocolate, Beige, Navy and Moss. The Black, Bitter Chocolate and Navy versions are suited to formal settings with heels and chunky jewellery, while the Beige and Moss pairs offer a more casual look for everyday wear.

Shoppers praise comfort and versatility

A description for the trousers on the M&S website reads: "Crafted from a smooth, satin finish fabric, these trousers have a high rise waist and a wide leg shape. They have a drawstring fastening. These M&S trousers dress up easily for evenings or down with a simple knit."

The trousers have an impressive rating of 4.8 out of five stars, with shoppers highlighting the comfortable stretch waistband and the way the style can be dressed up or down throughout the year.

Giving the trousers a perfect five-star score, one M&S shopper said: "Fantastic comfortable fit. Great as evening wear with a smart or velvet jacket."

A second wrote: "Love these trousers. Perfect fit and length. Can dress them up or down."

Alternative options from other retailers

Marks and Spencer also offers the £30 Velvet Pull On Wide Leg Trousers, which feature a stretchy, elasticated waist for comfort and are designed to add elegance to Christmas outfits.

Elsewhere, New Look is selling a similar pair of Satin Wide Leg Trousers in five colourways for £23.99, though they only come in a regular leg length. At Nobody's Child, the Satin Wide Leg Lyra Trousers have been reduced to £33 from £65, with four colourways available but again only in one standard length.

Some shoppers have noted minor drawbacks. One reviewer knocked a star off for the length, explaining: "Lovely trousers and a good price but too long. I bought short/petite and I'm 5'4 but did drag along the ground a little."

Another criticised the pockets, writing: "Beautiful trousers. I have them in three colours. My only problem with them is that the pockets are too shallow."

Despite these comments, many reviewers remain enthusiastic. One said: "Loved these. Look really expensive and look really good on. Prefect for any party!" while another added: "Love the extra-short length now available. Great fabric with nice weight and no creasing. Very comfortable too. Easy to dress down with a jumper but also great for dressing up with nice top."
