Meghan Markle's UK Move Could Bring Duchess Millions, Expert Says
Meghan Markle's UK Move Could Bring Duchess Millions

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to return to the UK within days, with their plan to raise their children in Britain confirmed. The couple's two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, will also be attending schools in the UK from September.

Move Confirmed for This Month

The Sussexes announced their plan to step back from royal duties in early 2020, with the couple then moving to start a new life in California with their young son. However, the couple's plan to move back to the UK for an extended time was confirmed on Wednesday, with the move set to take place this month.

As well as moving back to the UK, Meghan and Harry will soon be living out their work commitments from the comfort of their new UK base, with one expert predicting how the move will impact Meghan's brand As Ever.

As Ever's Potential in the UK

Meghan launched As Ever last spring, with the launch taking place alongside the release of the first series of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. Speaking to the Daily Express, brand and culture expert Nick Ede said: "As Ever has the potential to become an extremely valuable global lifestyle brand, but its success will depend on whether Meghan can turn the initial fascination surrounding her into consistent, repeat purchasing."

Ede added: "The UK could be a very lucrative market for Meghan because British consumers already understand her story, her taste and her connection to this country." He then said: "She would not have to introduce herself or manufacture brand awareness," adding, "The publicity generated by a British launch alone would be worth millions."

Sensitive Approach Needed

Ede continued: "Britain presents an opportunity, but it must be approached sensitively. If the products feel genuinely connected to British growers, makers and communities, it could be very warmly received. If it appears that Meghan is simply monetising her royal connection or the Sussex name, it could provoke criticism."

Although the location of their new home is yet to be confirmed, the couple could likely be based somewhere around the Cotswolds and the Northampton area.
