McVitie's Launches White Chocolate Hobnobs After Decades of Waiting
McVitie's White Chocolate Hobnobs Finally Here

McVitie's is launching a new Hobnob flavour that fans have wanted since the 1980s. The classic oaty biscuit, first introduced in 1985, now comes coated in white chocolate instead of the traditional milk or dark chocolate. The new White Chocolate Hobnobs are available at Morrison's from June 15, 2026, and will roll out to other supermarkets from July 13. A 232g pack costs £2.25 at the recommended retail price, though prices may vary by store.

A Long-Awaited Addition

McVitie's has dominated the British biscuit market since 1839, and the Hobnob remains one of its most popular creations. The White Chocolate variant joins an existing lineup that includes Gluten Free Original, Gluten Free Milk Chocolate, Choc Flapjack, and Oaty Flapjack. Earlier this year, the brand also launched Hobnobs Oaty Crunch Creams in Milk and Chocolate flavours, which are rectangular instead of round.

Eleonore de Saint Perier, brand manager at McVitie's, said: 'We're delighted to introduce McVitie's White Hobnobs to the Hobnobs family. Combining our iconic wholegrain oat biscuit with a smooth white chocolate flavour coating, they're a spin on a firm favourite, made for those moments when a simple biscuit just won't do.'

Savory Expansion

In a first for the nearly 200-year-old company, McVitie's has also released a savory product: Penguin Bites. These baked snack crackers come in three flavours: lightly salted, cheese, and salt and vinegar. Priced at £2 for a 125g box, they are now available at major grocery retailers across the UK.

Biscuit Market Trends

In January 2026, Metro conducted a taste test of classic chocolate digestive biscuits. The Marks & Spencer's version scored 86 out of 100, beating McVitie's own-brand version, which scored 61. M&S biscuits use demerara sugar for a crunchier texture, earning high marks for chocolate-to-biscuit ratio, dunkability, appearance, and texture.
