A TikTok user has put McDonald's new Grinch-themed festive menu to the test, sharing her thoughts on the range of items including one significant flaw. The fast-food chain launched the limited-edition menu to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the beloved film How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
The menu features the Grinch Big Mac Meal, a nine-piece Chicken McNuggets meal, and the McPlant meal, each served with a choice of side and a pair of Grinch-themed odd socks. Among the sides is the Grinched McShaker Fries, which come with a sachet of gherkin-flavoured seasoning for customers to shake themselves.
Laura Khoshaba, a singer with over 120,000 followers on TikTok, tried several items with her mother Ann. She began with the McShaker fries, noting that the seasoning 'smells exactly like the gherkins' and caused her mother to complain about the smell filling their car. Laura said the flavour was 'very subtle' and 'the smell is stronger than the taste'.
The Grumble Pie, described as a festive pastry filled with apple, cranberry and custard in a green pastry, received a more positive response. Laura called it 'really good', though her mother preferred the standard apple pie. The Frozen Grinch Lemonade, a blend of frozen lemonade with a green melon swirl, was deemed 'too sweet' and Laura concluded she was 'not a fan'.
The pair were impressed with the odd socks, describing them as 'so cute' and expressing a desire to buy the entire collection. Social media reactions were mixed, with some users praising the gherkin fries and others finding the flavour combinations unusual. One commenter noted that McDonald's was 'financially brave' with the menu, given the specific taste profiles.
