Man Utd agree £7.6m Toby Collyer deal with West Brom

Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer is set to join Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom after the two clubs agreed a deal that could be worth up to £7.6million.

United will receive an initial £3million for the 22-year-old, with a further £4.6million in potential add-ons. They also have a 40% sell-on clause included in the deal.

Move follows loan spells

Collyer had been expected to leave Old Trafford on a permanent deal this summer and had also attracted interest from Premier League newcomers Hull City, having spent the second half of last season on loan with the Tigers.

He made five appearances for the club before picking up an ankle injury in April that ruled him out of their successful play-off campaign, but made enough of an impression for the option to return to the MKM Stadium to be on the table.

Instead, Collyer will go back to West Brom, having spent the first half of last season on loan at the Hawthorns. That was a chaotic spell for the Baggies and the midfielder struggled for game time, but they have steadied the ship under James Morrison and have made a good start to this season.

United career and exit

United signed Collyer from Brighton in 2022 and in total he made 13 appearances for the club, including at one stage being ahead of Casemiro in the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.

He took part in pre-season this summer, but United's £155million outlay on Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba has strengthened Michael Carrick's options in midfield and led to Collyer's exit being sanctioned.
