Man City retro shirts cut to £6.44 in Sports Direct flash deal
Man City retro shirts cut to £6.44 in Sports Direct flash deal

Manchester City fans can pick up iconic retro shirts at heavily reduced prices in a flash sale running this Friday, August 28. The deal includes classic ‘Brother’ strips, among them the 1989 away shirt and the 1994 home shirt worn by Noel Gallagher in an early ‘90s Oasis photoshoot.

Shirt prices after cashback

The biggest discount is on the Man City 1989 Away Shirt, now on sale at Sports Direct for £24.50 (was £39.99) but available for £6.44 by shopping through TopCashback. New members of the deals site receive a £15 bonus when spending £15 or more, plus a boosted 15% cashback at Sports Direct until 11.59pm on Friday.

With these payments, the shirt effectively costs £6.44 after cashback, saving £33.55 or roughly 84% from the non-sale price. This price applies only to new TopCashback members, while existing members will pay £21.44 after cashback.

The 1989 shirt is selling fast, with only sizes small and medium remaining in stock. A similar deal is available with the Man City 1994 Home Shirt, the classic jersey immortalised by Noel Gallagher in promotional photos with his brother, Liam, taken by photographer Kevin Cummins around Maine Road.

Second shirt and delivery details

Using the same TopCashback method, the 1994 shirt – stocked in sizes small and large – effectively costs £13.88 after cashback for new members or £28.88 for existing members. The new member bonus can only be claimed against one shirt, and Sports Direct charges £4.99 for standard delivery.

The TopCashback deal still works out cheaper than many retailers. Elsewhere, the 1989 shirt is £27.20 at Kitbag, while the 1994 shirt is £40 at Pro:Direct Sport.

Both jerseys are faithful recreations of those worn during that era, featuring vintage details like the traditional club crest and Brother sponsor branding. They also boast a regular fit and classic collar authentic to those of the original kits.

Match context and shopper reviews

It comes as Enzo Maresca’s side prepare for their first away trip of the Premier League season, which sees them travel to Crystal Palace on Friday. They head to the capital on the back of a 2-1 win in their opening game, while Palace suffered a 2-0 defeat in their opener.

Man City vs Crystal Palace will air live on Sky Sports Premier League from an 8pm kick-off. As for TopCashback’s one-day Sports Direct deal, more than 164,000 shoppers have shared their experience of the brand on Trustpilot, awarding it an average rating of 4.6 stars.

One reviewer said: “I’ve used TopCashback for years and earned thousands in cashback on everything from freezers to football merchandise and concert tickets. It’s simple, quick and I don’t buy anything online without checking first. Amazing how many retailers are on the site.”

Another said: “I wish I knew about this website ages ago. A friend recommended it and seemed a bit too good to be true but I earned £15 back for buying a football top I would be getting anyway.”

Not everyone had a smooth experience, as this shopper said: “Trying to get my cashback was quite difficult. I contacted the help centre. They didn’t really help me but they did sort out my app to be able to get my payment.”

While another five-star review says: “Excellent. Simple to use website. Great community, when needed. Quick response when claiming payout.”
