ZG Prestige, a luxury car dealership, has applied for planning permission to take over the former Travis Perkins site on Bark Street in Bolton town centre. The company intends to change the use of the large site, according to a planning application submitted to the local authority.
The car business's website states it sells upmarket vehicles including Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Land Rover and Audi. ZG Prestige currently operates from premises at Shepherd Cross Street.
Plans for the site
A design and access report supporting the application said the car business intends to upgrade the existing premises for use as a car showroom, including offices, a photographic booth and storage, along with an external car sales area, customer parking and a secure car storage compound.
The report said: "The existing building will be overclad using a cladding system, coloured black to present a modern aesthetic to the building image, accented by gold trims to the main entrance feature and gold 'logo' signage." It added that the first floor can be partially removed to provide a glass balustrade and access to administrative functions on the first floor, maximising the car sales and display area at ground floor.
MOT centre and location benefits
Following the setup of the showroom premises, the applicant intends to build a four-bay MOT service centre to complement the main business, the report said.
The planning report added: "The site is ideally located for ZG, offering an out-of-town location, primarily the business generates business leads via internet sales. Visits to the site, inspections, collections will provide a great destination, just off the main roadway network, and ease of access to the major road networks from the A6, A666 and motorways, M6 and M61."
The report also stated: "The proposals will significantly enhance the appearance of the site that is located in an identified regeneration area of Bolton town centre." Planners in Bolton will decide on the plans in the coming weeks. In 2024, ZG Prestige was named runners-up in the Car Dealer awards for the 51-100 cars category.
