Single ticket holder wins £5m Lotto rollover jackpot

A single ticket holder has won the £5m Lotto rollover jackpot in tonight's draw, the National Lottery has confirmed. The winning numbers were 5, 24, 28, 46, 49 and 56, with a bonus ball of 19.

The Thunderball draw also took place, with the winning numbers 06, 07, 13, 20 and 21, and the Thunderball 04. The top prize for matching all five main numbers plus the Thunderball is £500,000.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners' Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “Wow, what a fantastic start to the year it’s been! A single player has banked the £5M jackpot in tonight’s draw. That makes it two huge Wednesday Lotto jackpot wins in a week after another lucky Lotto player landed the £13M ‘Must Be Won’ jackpot last Wednesday (14 January).”

Carter added that players raise around £32M every week for projects across the UK, saying: “Playing any National Lottery game is about so much more than the chance to win – it’s about helping to make a real difference.”

Meanwhile, the National Lottery has warned players of a 24-hour online outage this weekend. From 11pm on Saturday, January 24, until the end of Sunday, the website and apps will be unavailable for an upgrade, described as “the most significant improvements since 2009”.

Thunderball tickets cost £1 per line, with players selecting five main numbers from 1 to 39 and one Thunderball from 1 to 14. There are nine prize tiers, and players can win smaller cash prizes for matching just the Thunderball or a few main numbers.
