Liverpool have reportedly seen a £50 million bid for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh rejected as manager Andoni Iraola looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the Premier League season opener.
Bid Rejected for Injured Winger
The 22-year-old Gambia international is currently out injured and is expected to be sidelined for two months, should the Reds consider an improved offer. According to The Athletic, who first reported the bid, Iraola's priority is to sign a winger following the departure of club legend Mohamed Salah this summer.
Minteh scored nine goals and managed eight assists in 66 appearances last season. He joined Brighton from Newcastle during the summer transfer window in 2024.
Upcoming Fixtures and Transfer Activity
Liverpool kick off their Premier League season against Newcastle on Sunday, while Brighton start their Conference League campaign against Tromso on August 20.
Brighton face a battle to keep their star players before the end of the transfer window, with Manchester United also expected to renew their interest in midfielder Carlos Baleba. United spoke to Brighton about a potential move for Baleba last summer, only to cool their interest due to the club's determination to keep him.
Manchester United Pursues Baleba
The 22-year-old had a topsy-turvy 2025/26 campaign, but the Red Devils are understood to have made a renewed push to sign the midfielder, who is currently dealing with an ankle issue. Talks are under way between the clubs, with United reported to have offered in the region of £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons. Baleba moved to the Amex from Lille in 2023 for 27 million euros (£23.2 million) and signed a contract until 2028 following Moises Caicedo's big-money move to Chelsea.
