Yates Liverpool has reopened today (Wednesday, August 19) following a major refurbishment backed by a six-figure investment from Stonegate. The Queen Square pub has been transformed into a new destination for live sport, food and social occasions.
Refurbishment details and new features
The venue had been closed for several weeks while extensive improvements were carried out. Customers can now return to the refurbished pub and experience its updated interior and new facilities.
A major highlight is a new 100-inch TV and upgraded audiovisual technology, designed to make Yates a destination for watching live sport. The venue has also added dedicated pool and darts areas, including two pool tables and two digital dartboards.
New food and drink offerings
The reopening also brings new food and drink options for customers. A new Sunday roast menu has launched, while a Bottomless Brunch offering will be introduced on Sunday, August 23.
Liverpool FC legend John Barnes will appear at Yates on Sunday, August 23, adding a major attraction to the reopening celebrations. He will join supporters ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Newcastle.
Special appearance by John Barnes
Fans attending the event will have the chance to meet Barnes, take photographs with him and even see him get behind the bar to pour a pint. He will also take part in a live pre-match Q&A before watching the game alongside Liverpool supporters.
Wade Zammit, General Manager at Yates Liverpool, said the investment was about creating a venue that offers something for everyone. The refurbished pub is designed for customers watching sport, enjoying food with friends or making the most of its new entertainment and drinks offerings.
Yates' long history in Liverpool
Yates has been part of Liverpool’s hospitality scene since opening in Queen Square in 1998, following the closure of the historic Yates’s Wine Lodge on Moorfields. Now reopened today, the latest refurbishment builds on previous work carried out in 2011 and 2016 while continuing the venue’s long-standing place in the city centre.
