Lidl's £10 joggers look like £99 and £140 designer pairs
Lidl £10 joggers compared to £99 and £140 high-end pairs

Lidl is adding a pair of men's joggers to its Middle of Lidl aisle that bear a striking resemblance to high-end trousers sold for £99 and £139.90. The ESMARA Men's Navy Joggers, priced at £10, will be available in all Lidl stores across the UK from Sunday, October 18, while stocks last.

The joggers are described as "soft and warm" and feature a cotton-rich blend with a fleece lining. They come with side pockets, a back pocket, an elasticated drawstring waist and ankle cuffs, and are available in sizes M to XL. The trousers are made from 75 per cent recycled polyester and 25 per cent cotton.

Budget alternative to designer brands

Shoppers may see the Lidl joggers as a budget alternative to the Icebreaker Merinos 200 Shifter Pants, which are on sale via Hardloop for £104.03, down from its RRP of £139.90. The Icebreaker trousers have a similar look to Lidl's offering.

Hardloop describes the Icebreaker product: "Slip into the Merinos 200 Shifter Trousers after a mountain hike or a busy workday and let comfort envelop you. Icebreaker designed these trousers with Eucaform, a soft blend of TENCEL™ lyocell and merino wool, creating a jogger silhouette that combines style and relaxation. The elastic waistband with internal drawcord ensures a perfect fit, while the offset side seams reduce chafing, offering you unmatched freedom of movement."

The description continues: "At Icebreaker, inspiration is drawn from nature, and merino wool is their fabric of choice. This textile naturally repels odours, regulates temperature to keep you cool when it's hot and warm when it's cool. Merino wool is also breathable, ensuring optimal comfort throughout the day, no matter where your adventures take you."

It adds: "Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or an aspiring outdoor enthusiast, these trousers are your ideal companion for well-deserved recovery. So, ready to feel as good as a merino sheep? The Merinos 200 Shifter Trousers are here to accompany you, naturally."

Lacoste comparison and availability

Harvey Nichols is also selling the Lacoste Men's Taff Relaxed-Fit Joggers for £80, down from £99, in sizes small to 2XL. The trousers, also in black, are described as aesthetically similar to the Lidl pair.

According to the product description: "The Lacoste Taffeta Trousers cut a relaxed, full-length shape from a smooth woven shell. Hand wash only, with no bleaching, tumble drying or ironing; a mid-rise sits at the waist, while the lined interior softens the fabric next to the skin."

The Lacoste joggers feature an elasticated waistband and cuffs, a soft upper-section jersey lining that is part cotton, open side pockets, a relaxed fit through the hip and thigh, and the Lacoste crocodile mark.

Lidl's joggers will be available in all 1,000+ stores from Sunday, October 18, while stocks last. Home delivery is not an option, so interested buyers will need to visit their local branch. To avoid a wasted trip on launch day, shoppers are advised to check with their nearest Lidl before setting off, as stock can vary between stores. The retailer's online store finder can help locate the closest branch by entering a postcode.
