A simple storage change could keep lettuce fresh for up to two weeks, according to a TikTok user who shared the hack online.
The tip involves placing a folded paper towel inside a ziplock bag before loading it with washed and prepped lettuce. The paper towel acts as a liner, absorbing excess moisture that causes the leaves to spoil quickly.
How the hack works
TikTok user Chores With Mom demonstrated the method in a video, showing how she tucks a folded paper towel into a ziplock bag, creased side down, to create what she described as a 'sort of bag liner'.
"Wash and prep your lettuce and load it into your ziplock bag," she said. "Really pack it in. You can fit a few heads of lettuce in there without a problem."
She advised folding the paper towel over the top so the lettuce is covered, then squeezing all the air out before sealing. "Store it like this and you'll have salad for up to two weeks," she added.
