KFC opens 'Coq au Vin' wine bar in east London

KFC is swapping soft drinks for wine this Bank Holiday weekend, as it opens a pop-up bar in Shoreditch.

Collaboration with La Vieille Ferme

The fast-food chain is teaming up with French wine brand La Vieille Ferme to pair its fried chicken favourites with rosé, red wine and fizz from August 28 to 31.

The four-day pop-up, called Coq au Vin, will be held at Kachette Annex, offering a menu of KFC dishes paired with selected wines.

Menu pairings and special label

Pairings will include KFC tenders with La Vieille Ferme rosé, hot wings with red wine and popcorn chicken with sparkling wine.

The collaboration will also see the return of La Vieille Ferme's “Chicken Wine” label, a name adopted by fans in reference to the rooster featured on its bottles. The special-edition label will be available exclusively at the Shoreditch pop-up during its four-day run.

Quote from KFC UK & Ireland

Phoebe Syms, Fame & Partnerships Lead at KFC UK & Ireland said: “We’re iconic fried chicken. They’re the iconic Chicken Wine. Coq au Vin is one of those partnerships that just makes sense – and frankly, we can’t believe it’s taken this long. This August bank holiday, it's poulet all day.”

Tickets are on sale now, and the bar will be open from 12-9pm Friday to Sunday and until 5pm on Monday.
