Jollyes Pet Shop Chain Plans Over 160 New Stores Across UK

Jollyes Pet Shop Chain Announces Major Expansion Plan

Jollyes Pets, a prominent pet shop chain, has revealed an ambitious strategy to open more than 160 new stores across Great Britain. This expansion plan aims to bring the chain's signature blend of low prices and expert pet care to dozens of additional towns and cities over the coming five years.

Current Operations and Recent Openings

The company currently operates from 120 locations, including four newly established stores in 2026 located in Blackpool, Ponders End, Hartlepool, and Whitehaven. Jollyes emphasizes its commitment to providing customers with a combination of affordable pricing and specialized pet expertise, a formula that has driven its growth in the competitive retail market.

Imminent Store Openings

Four new branches are scheduled to launch within the next few months, as confirmed by the company on Tuesday. These include:

  • Kidderminster at Crossley Retail Park on Friday, May 29
  • Yeovil at Houndstone Retail Park on Friday, June 19
  • Derby at Wyvern Retail Park in early summer

These openings mark the initial phase of a broader acceleration in Jollyes' expansion programme.

Strategic Expansion Targets

Jollyes is actively identifying over 160 towns and cities across England, Wales, and Scotland as potential sites for new stores. If suitable locations become available, the chain could secure up to 25 additional store locations in 2026 alone, offering pet owners enhanced choice and accessibility.

Key areas of interest include major conurbations such as Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, Nottingham, Manchester, and locations within the M25 around London. The property team is seeking spaces between 3,000 and 7,000 square feet, preferably on retail parks or prominent roadside sites to maximize visibility and customer reach.

Management and Vision

The search for new sites is being managed by Edgerley Simpson Howe in England and Wales and Savills in Scotland. Warren Bester, Jollyes Pets property director, stated: "We're on a mission to make high-quality pet care accessible to all, investing in range development alongside our commitment to low prices, as we deliver great value every day."

He added: "Wherever we open a store, we become the location of choice for pet parents in the community who value our combination of low prices and brilliant service from colleagues with real expertise in pet care. We're looking forward to bringing that special combination to as many places as we can over the next five years."

Recent Growth and Accolades

Over the past three years, Jollyes has nearly doubled its store count across the UK, reflecting strong market performance and consumer demand. The company was recognized as one of The Sunday Times' best big companies to work for in 2024 and won the Retail Week Award for Head Office Heroes in 2025, following the successful rollout of its raw frozen food range.
