A businessman is selling Scotland merchandise inspired by John McGinn's famous backside, which he says are flying off the shelves ahead of the World Cup.
Unique Memorabilia for Scotland's Return
Kevin Beresford, 74, is offering metal prints, drinks coasters, and mugs featuring the Aston Villa midfielder, as well as Susan Boyle, after being inspired by Irn Bru's humorous World Cup anthem. Known as Britain's dullest man, Kevin wanted to commemorate the Tartan Army reaching the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, as they rarely qualify.
Celebrating McGinn's 'Brilliant Behind'
Kevin created the bizarre range of Scotland memorabilia dedicated to McGinn's backside and the comical 'Made from Girders' advert featuring the player alongside SuBo. He said: 'You see the same merchandise every year and I wanted to do something different because, let's be honest, it's not very often Scotland are at a World Cup.'
Kevin, a lifelong Aston Villa fan, added: 'First and foremost I am an Aston Villa fan and he is a talismanic figure for us as well as for his country. I think he is every Villa fan's favourite player and probably Scotland's too.'
McGinn is known among fans as 'BraveArse' for his unorthodox use of his backside to hold off and spin players. Kevin remarked: 'He utilises his brilliant behind with amazing success. He almost goes horizontal in a crouching position and just sticks out this dynamic derriere, which is worthy of a Greek God.'
Pricing and Availability
An 8-inch by 10-inch metal print of John McGinn costs £18.99, while coasters and mugs are £8.99 each. Kevin, from Redditch, Worcs., said: 'Instead of flags, I wanted to commemorate the occasion in a unique way - and I think this ticks that box.'
McGinn has previously acknowledged his backside's role in his career, saying: 'If I didn't have my backside, I'd probably be at Yeovil. I don't think anyone has a backside the size of me.'
