John Lewis has opened its 2026 Christmas online shop early, citing a surge in customer interest. The high street retailer said the decision to launch ahead of the usual schedule follows a summer dominated by football thanks to the 2026 World Cup, with customer searches for 'Christmas' up by over 33 percent.
Early launch details
As of Friday, August 28, there are 17 Fridays left until Christmas Day. The retailer's festive online shop is now officially open, giving shoppers the chance to buy decorations and gifts early and avoid the holiday rush.
This year's collection focuses on four central themes: The Enthusiast, The Cherisher, The Connoisseur and The Curator. Each line boasts a "distinctive look," drawing on nostalgic treasures, pop culture figures and festive treats.
Featured trees and decorations
Among the range of pre-lit trees, the Indoor/Outdoor Pre-lit Twig Tree stands out. Measuring 6ft and costing £150, it features realistic, drooping-style branches and 600 LED lights for a "warm magic glow."
A new addition this year is the Aylesford Super Pre-Lit Christmas Tree, hailed as "the most dazzling yet." With a record 4,200 bulbs, this 7ft tree is said to give the room "a wonderful sparkle," with a timer that automatically switches the lights on and off. Priced at £500, it is currently showing as unavailable on the website but will be in stock soon.
John Lewis also offers a range of eclectic baubles, including a bag of popcorn, a John Lewis carrier bag, a panettone tin and a box of chocolates, all priced at £8 each.
New collections and events
New for this year is a collection of plush yetis, part of The Enthusiast collection. There are six in total, each with its own unique story, named after a word for wild or wintery weather.
John Lewis has also confirmed the return of its Santa's Tea Parties, described as "more immersive and enchanting than ever before." Families can join Santa and his elves for story time with cocoa and snacks. Tickets cost £25 per child and £8 per adult, with a £2.50 booking fee. The event is available at select locations, including the retailer's two stores in Scotland - Glasgow and Edinburgh.
For a more traditional look, a family of felt mice is included in The Cherisher line, aimed at "homespun nostalgia."
Cydney Ball, Head of Christmas at John Lewis, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to officially launch our Christmas shop online. This year, we’re helping customers craft a truly magical home, from trees adorned with heirloom-inspired decorations to thoughtful, curated gifting."
Ball added: "My personal favourite? Our enchanting collection of felt mice! Whether they are inspired by nostalgic past times, festive treats, or iconic pop culture figures, these charming characters are the perfect way to add a touch of whimsy and wonder to your tree."
The John Lewis Christmas 2026 online shop is now open.
