Jaissle gives two-word response to Man United Lewis Hall transfer link
Jaissle two-word response to Man United Lewis Hall link

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has laughed off suggestions that Manchester United could sign Lewis Hall this summer. The German gave a blunt two-word response when former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel told him the Reds were interested in the left-back.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in English football and among the best left-backs in the Premier League. His omission from England's World Cup squad this summer came as a surprise, and reports have claimed Hall is unhappy at St James' Park.

No chance, no chance

Speaking on ViaPlay's coverage of Newcastle's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, Schmeichel said: "We're [Man United] after your left-back." Jaissle initially misunderstood the comment before replying: "No chance! No chance!"

Michael Carrick's side are in the market for a new left-back and are understood to be admirers of Hall. However, with Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon already having left, it is highly unlikely Newcastle would sell Hall with just days left of the window.

United look elsewhere

United now look as though they will have to find other alternatives. Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and was left out of the squad to face Elche on Sunday night.

Barca boss Hansi Flick explained that omission, saying: "I spoke with Alejandro Balde today and said to him that I think you're not here 109%, so it's best that you stay at home and clear your mind. We will talk again tomorrow."

RB Leipzig defender David Raum has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, while links with Myles Lewis-Skelly and Antonee Robinson appear to have fizzled out. United know there is plenty of room for improvement throughout the squad following the 2-0 defeat to Hull City on the opening day of the season.
