McVitie's has released a brand-new spin-off of its iconic Jaffa Cakes: Jaffa Cookies. The treat, priced at £2.50, is now available at Asda stores nationwide, with a wider rollout to all major grocery stores from 20 July 2026.
What Are Jaffa Cookies?
The new product combines a half-coated, soft-baked chocolate chip cookie with a zesty orange centre, as described on the packaging. It offers a twist on the classic Jaffa Cake, which has long sparked debate over whether it is a cake or a biscuit—despite a 1991 court ruling classifying it as a cake.
Social Media Buzz
The launch was announced by food-focused account 'NewFoodSpotterUK' on social media, sharing a photo of the package. The post read: "NEW Jaffa Cake Cookies. Now available in @Asda Express stores, with a wider rollout into Asda Stores nationwide from 25th June & all major grocery stores from 20th July."
Fans quickly expressed excitement. One user commented: "Ohhhh a huge YES from me." Another wrote: "Oh my god, what r they doing to me. I'll never lose weight at this rate."
Company Statement
A spokesperson for McVitie's Jaffa Cakes said: "2026 is proving to be the year we keep the nation on their toes. Everyone loves a Jaffa Cake, everyone loves a cookie, and Jaffa Cookies bring together the best of both worlds. It's the iconic Jaffa flavour people know and love, wrapped up in a soft-baked cookie that's perfect for those moments when only a cookie will do. Although this one really can be dunked."
Other New Products
This follows the recent launch of Jaffa Cakes Digestives and other new variations from McVitie's, including a nostalgic fusion of two classic treats earlier this year.
