After months of rigorous testing, the Simba hybrid luxe mattress has been named the best overall mattress for 2026 by a team of UK experts. The mattress, which combines foam and spring layers, was praised for its excellent full-body support, durability, and temperature regulation.
According to Tristine Hargreaves, executive director at Bed Advice UK and The National Bed Federation, mattresses should be replaced every seven to 10 years. An ageing mattress can show signs of decline such as sagging and lumps, and may cause aches and pains.
The Simba hybrid luxe is described as medium-firm, rated eight out of ten for firmness. It offers impressive edge support with only 5cm of sinkage when sitting on the edge, and provides good spine alignment. However, motion isolation could be improved, as the tester occasionally noticed their partner moving during the night.
The mattress is also noted for its cooling properties, remaining fresh even during summer months. After three years of nightly use, it has not sagged and still feels supportive. The main drawbacks are its weight (42kg) and height (31cm), requiring two people to manoeuvre and deep-fitted sheets.
For those on a tighter budget, the Simba hybrid essential or hybrid pro are recommended as more affordable alternatives that still offer a similar hybrid design.
