A journalist has shared how she cleared stubborn limescale from her shower head in minutes using a spray from Home Bargains. The product, Viakal Fresh Limescale Remover Spray, cost £2.75 for a 500ml bottle and proved more effective than natural methods like white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.
Product Details and Application
The Viakal spray is specifically formulated to eliminate limescale, soap scum, and water marks, while also helping to prevent future build-up. It features anti-droplet technology, which reduces the formation of water droplets on surfaces after cleaning. To use it, the shower head was generously sprayed, ensuring all areas with visible limescale were thoroughly covered. It was then left to work for several minutes before being gently scrubbed with an old toothbrush.
According to the journalist, the limescale lifted far more readily than it ever had with vinegar, and the shower head appeared noticeably cleaner afterwards. The water flow also improved, as the blocked nozzles appeared to have cleared. Although it did not eliminate every last trace of limescale, it was considerably less noticeable, and the outcome was genuinely impressive.
Comparison with Natural Methods
The journalist noted that she tends to favour natural cleaning methods wherever possible, but in this instance, Viakal delivered far superior results to anything else she had previously tested. It tackled thick, stubborn limescale with minimal effort, saving a considerable amount of time scrubbing away at the surface.
Safety and Value
As a particularly powerful cleaning product, using it safely is essential. The journalist ensured a window was open and the extractor fan was running to keep the room adequately ventilated. While Viakal is not the most affordable cleaning product on the market, only a small amount is needed each time, so a single bottle has gone a remarkably long way. She also applies it to her sink and bath taps, and the difference in cleanliness and shine is plain to see.
