Shoppers have flocked to the newly-opened Home Bargains megastore in Gateshead, which has already 'surpassed all expectations'. The large store at Retail World on the Team Valley Trading Estate includes an outside GardenWorld section and a full-service café – a first for the Tyneside area – alongside thousands of products, including the new Mrs Hinch autumn range.
Opening Weekend Success
The eagerly-awaited addition opened on Saturday, bringing new life to the empty former Homebase store. It was swamped on launch day, with crowds turning up to see what all the fuss was about. Images taken this Monday show little let-up in interest as shoppers explore the aisles of bargain buys.
Delighted at the turnout, new store manager Martin Jones said: "It surpassed all expectations!" He added: "The cafe and the garden centre are the first in the Tyneside area."
Store Features and Offerings
The chain is known for its claim of 'top brands - bottom prices', and this branch offers far more than its usual size store. Under one roof are expansive aisles of homewares, toiletries, toys, food – both frozen and fresh – and alcohol. As well as the large café at one end, which advertises breakfast sandwiches for just £1.99, and the garden centre at the other, other extras include a bakery.
Future Plans and Opening Hours
With more autumn additions to come, followed by new season treats for Christmas, busy scenes at the new store are set to continue. Daily opening hours are 8am until 8pm, save for Sunday when hours are from 10am until 4pm.
