Home Bargains is offering the PIFCO Electric Heated Airer for £34.99, a device the retailer says is an energy-efficient alternative to tumble drying that costs roughly 6p per hour to run. The deal is available in stores across the UK and online for home delivery.
Compact Design and Low Running Costs
Describing the product online, Home Bargains said the heated airer is "compact and efficient" for drying clothes indoors. It added: "With 20 heated bars and a 15kg max load weight, it offers ample space for your laundry needs."
The 230W device offers low running costs at about 6p per hour under the current price cap. Compared with a tumble dryer, which costs roughly 65p to 85p per hour to run depending on the model at recent Ofgem electricity price cap rates, the savings are clear.
Tips and Alternatives from Other Retailers
Using a cover with a heated airer can improve drying time and quality by trapping heat around the clothes for longer. Dunelm, which sells similar devices, claims that a cover "creates a warm, enclosed space that speeds up moisture evaporation, ensuring your laundry dries faster and more effectively".
Fellow budget retailer B&M is also selling a similar appliance in stores across the UK. The Addis Heated Fold-Out Clothes Airer is on offer in B&M stores for £40, and claims to help people dry their clothes indoors quickly, cutting down the risk of damp and mould this winter.
Describing it online, B&M said: "Say goodbye to damp laundry hanging around for days. The Addis Heated Fold Out Airer uses gentle warmth to speed up drying time - great for those days when the weather just won't play ball."
It folds out quickly when needed and folds flat again for easy storage, with fold-out wings providing rail space for a full load and heated bars that begin working as soon as it is plugged in.
