Margaret in Double Bay Named Among World's Best Steak Restaurants

Margaret, the Double Bay restaurant from chef Neil Perry, has been recognised as one of the world's best steak restaurants by World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants. The accolade was celebrated in a recent review that detailed an exceptional dining experience, from the impeccable service to the standout steaks.

The reviewer described the atmosphere as electric, with a well-heeled crowd filling the candlelit room. The meal began with Tuna Tartare and lobster ravioli, the latter returned to the menu due to popular demand. The fluffiest focaccia and Spencer Gulf King Prawns followed, setting the stage for the main event.

The star of the evening was the 500g CopperTree 36 Month Grass-Fed Hereford Ribeye, described as the best steak the reviewer had ever tasted. Its texture was tender to the point of disbelief, with a buttery richness. A 220g CopperTree 60 Month Friesian Fillet with red curry butter also impressed, described as melt-in-the-mouth. The steaks were accompanied by twice-cooked potatoes that were crispy on the outside and soft within.

Chef Neil Perry expressed pride in the recognition, stating, 'We’re absolutely thrilled that Margaret continues to be recognised as one of the world’s best steak restaurants. This recognition is a true reflection of the dedication behind our family run restaurants, from sourcing the highest quality beef to ensuring every cut is meticulously dry-aged and perfectly cooked.' He also noted that Gran Torino, another of his restaurants, made the list this year.

Desserts, including a mascarpone, blueberry and almond trifle and a crème caramel with honey, provided a fitting end to a meal that the reviewer described as 'not just a meal, but a moment that lingers.' The review concluded that Margaret offers an experience that is rare and truly memorable.
