EasyJet has announced it will withdraw all flights from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) on 5 January 2027, cancelling six popular routes and disrupting travel plans for British holidaymakers. The budget carrier said it would pull its services from the airport to focus on maintaining and developing its most popular routes.
The decision means EasyJet will cease operating all six of its routes from LBA, ending direct flights to Barcelona, Paris, Belfast, Malaga, Mallorca and Geneva. Passengers who regularly use these services will be forced to travel from a different airport or select an alternative airline after that date.
Customer Options and Refunds
For customers who have already secured flights scheduled to depart after 5 January 2027, EasyJet said they will be offered either a complimentary transfer to a flight from an alternative airport or a full refund, according to the Express.
Some doubt lingers over flights scheduled before the closure date. EasyJet has not confirmed whether all flights currently listed from Leeds Bradford Airport will continue to run as planned until January 2027. The airline's website appears to suggest that some routes may conclude earlier than others.
Route Schedule Uncertainties
No flights to Geneva were displayed as available from Leeds Bradford, while services to Malaga and Mallorca appeared to halt after November 2026. This means certain routes could be wound down ahead of the airport's complete withdrawal, although EasyJet has yet to officially confirm any alterations to its timetable.
Flights to Barcelona, Paris and Belfast still appeared to be available until January.
Airline Statement
An EasyJet spokesperson said: "Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January."
The spokesperson added: "Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers. We have contacted customers with bookings beyond this date to provide them with advance notice and inform them of their options, including a free transfer to flights from an alternative airport or a refund, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused."
