Dunelm has introduced an affordable take on the iconic Big Green Egg barbecue, with a compact kamado grill priced at just £149. The Charles Bentley Ottimo Searsmith 13" Kamado Mini Grill is now available on the Dunelm website, offering a budget-friendly option for those who have been put off by the high cost of the original.
The smallest version measures 47cm high and wide, and 46cm deep, with a standing design that can be placed on outdoor tables or benches. This compares with the Big Green Egg's 50cm tall model, which retails at £925. Dunelm's version includes the grill body, a stand, a firebox, a heat deflector, a grate and a cooking grill – everything needed to get started.
The charcoal-fired grill delivers the classic smoky flavour associated with traditional barbecues. Its compact size makes it suitable for modest gardens, patios or balconies, and it can be easily moved for camping trips or beach outings. When not in use, it takes up minimal space in a garage or shed.
Despite its small footprint, the grill can cook enough food for one to three people, making it ideal for smaller gatherings. It is finished in a glossy light green ceramic with thick walls that minimise heat loss, using 50-75% less charcoal compared with traditional barbecues.
For those seeking an even cheaper option, Debenhams is offering a similar 13" ceramic mini grill for £79.99, reduced from £249.99, available in five colours.
