Shoppers are snapping up a £30 heater from Dunelm that they say can warm a room in minutes. The 1500W Small Square Olive Heater features a compact design with a ceramic and fan-assisted heating element that is described as very fast and efficient.
The heater has a retro look and a forest green colour, blending style with practicality. According to the Dunelm website, running costs are 40p per hour, calculated based on the UK price guarantee from October 2025.
Features and customer feedback
An adjustable thermostat lets users set the temperature to their needs, while built-in overheat protection offers peace of mind. However, shoppers have noted the heater should only be placed on hard surfaces, so those with carpets may need to consider this limitation.
On the Dunelm website, the heater has received a 4.6/5 star rating from over 80 customer reviews. One shopper said: "Small and compact but very efficient. Great value for money."
Another fan said: "Great little heater, so economical to run, the lounge heated up in 15 minutes, highly reccomend." A third shopper described it as a "Genius heating cube with thermostat that regulates constant heating."
Alternatives and other options
Some buyers marked the heater down because it is not suitable for carpets. One review reads: "Love the heater and its very mighty for tiny heater. The only minus about it that its designed to be put on solid ground. It has a caution leaflet saying 'Do not stand the heater on a carpet'. This is UK, as much as I hate it, every room is covered in carpets, where else I am supose to put it?"
Alternatively, the De'Longhi Bend Line 2kW Oscillating Tower Ceramic Heater is on clearance at Argos, providing 2000 watts of heat into rooms up to 60 square metres. Priced at £100, it is suitable for different surfaces and adjusts its power output automatically as the room warms up. Its wide heating surface delivers steady, safe warmth without hot spots or harsh blasts of air, and it offers two heat settings, thermostat control and a remote.
Amazon also stocks the Russell Hobbs Space Heater in Black & Silver, currently on offer from £41.99 down to £33.99. It provides 1500W of heat with four different modes and is said to run 'silently'.
For other ways to heat the home, the Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Underblanket is available for £35 to £45 at Argos. It can be used as an extra layer on beds thanks to straps that secure to the mattress. According to the retailer, pre-heating the bed for one hour on a low setting can cost as little as 1p to run, with four heat settings and a 10-minute heat-up time.
