Denby Pottery Village in Derbyshire has launched a closing down sale, with shoppers urged to buy bargains before the store shuts its doors for the final time on Sunday, August 30. The sale runs all this week and over the first two days of the August bank holiday weekend, following Denby Pottery's collapse into administration earlier this year.
The store, where potters have handcrafted stoneware at the same site since 1809, will close at the end of trading on Sunday along with seven other outlets. Fans of the brand have just days to make their final visit and purchase Denby's handmade pottery and crockery at reduced prices.
Sale Details and Final Days
Items start from as little as £2, with bundles of four pieces available for between £6 and £12. The Pottery Village, located on Derby Road in the village of Denby, about eight miles north of Derby, is open from 9am to 5pm every day this week until 4pm on Sunday.
Tony Wright, Joint Administrator of the Denby group of companies and partner at FRP, said: "It's undoubtedly a sad moment to see the Pottery Village close after so many years as the home of this much-loved British brand."
He added: "We wanted to give shoppers and Denby enthusiasts the chance to visit one final time and take home a piece of its heritage."
Brand Continues Under New Ownership
While the stores are closing, the Denby brand itself will continue under new ownership, ensuring its legacy lives on. Mr Wright said: "We hope as many people as possible will come along and help give the Pottery Village the send-off it deserves."
Remaining outlets in Ashford, Portsmouth, Braintree, York, Dalton Park, Castleford and Cheshire Oaks will also close their doors for good this week. Denby Pottery appointed administrators on March 31 amid reduced demand, rising energy and labour costs.
The final piece of Denby Pottery was finished with an Imperial Blue glaze bowl signed and collected by the man who designed the range, Richard Eaton, on June 8.
