A dad who visited a car boot sale with his two daughters has told his TikTok followers he expects to make around £160 from reselling three items he bought for £17.50.
Chris Hutton said he had not been to a car boot sale for about six weeks, and that this visit was more about letting his daughters “spend all his money”. He added that he did not have his “reselling head on”, but still left with three items he believes he can sell for a profit.
Three items bought for £17.50
Speaking to his 7,000 followers on TikTok, Hutton said: “We didn't get there until sort of three hours after it started so most the decent stuff had already gone. I still managed to pick up three items which I'll hopefully make a decent bit of profit on.”
The first item was a Youview box from TalkTalk, which he bought for £2.50. In the clip, he asked the seller how much it cost, to which the owner replied: “£2.50.” Describing it as a “steal”, Hutton said it was brand new and never used, and that similar items had previously sold for between £44.99 and £59.95. He plans to list it for around £50.
The second item was a Panasonic camera bought from a house clearance stall for £10. Hutton said it came with its original box, charger, leads and a camera case, and that he tested it and found it fully working with no scratches. It also included an SD card. He noted that similar cameras had previously sold for between £47.50 and £70, and he plans to list it for around £60.
Planned resale prices
The third item was a set of phones, brand new and never used, still in their original packaging. Hutton paid £5 for them and, with previously sold prices up to £54.99, he plans to list them for £50.
Hutton concluded: “So overall I spent about £17.50 and I'm looking at a return of around £160 for these three items.” He also mentioned that he only managed to film part of the trip, saying: “As you can see I had the kids with me so it was hard to focus on anything other than them let alone hitting the record button on my camera.”
