Chris Hutton, a dad who took his two daughters to a car boot sale, spent £17.50 on three items and now expects to make around £160 by reselling them. He shared his haul with his 7,000 TikTok followers, detailing the potential profit from each purchase.
Three Bargain Buys Found at the Sale
Hutton, who had not been to a car boot sale in six weeks, arrived three hours after the event started. He said: "We didn't get there until sort of three hours after it started so most the decent stuff had already gone. I still managed to pick up three items which I'll hopefully make a decent bit of profit on."
His first find was a TalkTalk Youview box that came with a "brand new" phone inside. He paid £2.50 for it, and based on previous sold listings between £44.99 and £59.95, he plans to list it for around £50.
Camera and Phone Set Add to the Haul
The second item was a Panasonic camera bought from a house clearance stall for £10. It came with its charger, original leads, a camera case, and an SD card. Hutton tested it and confirmed it was fully working with no scratches. With previous sold prices ranging from £47.50 to £70, he plans to list it for around £60.
The third item was a set of phones, brand new and unused, still in their original packaging. He paid £5 for them, and with previous sold listings reaching £54.99, he plans to put them up for £50.
Expected Return of Around £160
Hutton concluded: "So overall I spent about £17.50 and I'm looking at a return of around £160 for these three items."
He noted that the day was mostly about his daughters "spending all of his money," and he did not have his "reselling head on." He added: "So it wasn't really a reselling trip, I didn't have my reselling head on and we didn't get there until 3 hours after it started but they had a good time and they managed to spend a lot of my money."
