Louisiana-inspired seafood restaurant Crabbish is set to open on Newcastle Quayside, with signs already spotted on a building. The eatery, which has been a hit in Manchester and Liverpool, is expected to open before the end of the year.
Bringing Louisiana to the Toon
Crabbish, which describes itself as creating 'unforgettable dining experiences where incredible seafood, theatre and celebration come together around one table,' will be located just along from highly rated restaurant 21. The menu features shrimp, blue mussels, crab, langoustine and lobster, boiled and served with baby potatoes, eggs and corn on the cob. Sides include crab cigars, Mama's paella and fish fingers.
No official opening date has been confirmed yet, with the restaurant simply saying it's 'coming soon.'
Newcastle's Thriving Food Scene
The arrival of Crabbish comes amid a wave of new openings in Newcastle, despite challenges facing the hospitality industry. Recently, The Ivy announced it would move into the former Lloyds bank building on Grey Street, and the former Mood nightclub in The Gate is being transformed into Firebird, described as Newcastle's 'first ever' luxury buffet.
With a diverse range of dining options available seven days a week, Newcastle continues to attract both locals and visitors. Crabbish adds a unique seafood boil experience to the city's culinary landscape.
