Co-op launches £3 honeycomb bar to rival Tony's

Co-op has launched a limited-edition chocolate bar that aims to compete with popular brands like Tony's Chocolonely. The Limited Edition Chunky Honeycomb & Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Bar is now available in stores and online, priced at £3.

What's in the new bar?

The 150g bar combines Fairtrade milk chocolate with crunchy honeycomb and salted caramel pieces. Co-op describes the treat as 'satisfyingly chunky' and 'drool-worthy'.

At £3, the bar is cheaper than Tony's Chocolonely Milk Chocolate Caramel Sea Salt Bar, which costs £4.95 for 180g. That works out at around £4.13 for 150g, making Co-op's version £1.13 cheaper for the same weight.

Shoppers react

Shoppers have expressed excitement about the new offering. On Facebook, Charlotte Catton said, 'I need this in my life,' while Karlie Myles said it 'looks insane.' Laura JP added, 'I require this immediately,' and Trevor Montford noted that it was 'like a Tony's chocolate.'

Other new products from Co-op

The retailer has also introduced five more Fairtrade products in its confectionery range. The Chocolate & Salted Pretzel Munch Mix, priced at £3, features milk chocolate malt balls, crunchy salted pretzels, blonde chocolate enrobed fudge, white chocolate coated honeycomb pieces and milk chocolate enrobed popcorn.

For those who prefer simpler options, Co-op has added a Dark Chocolate Bar, Milk Chocolate Bar and White Chocolate Bar, each priced at £2.35. The line-up also includes Dinosaur Eggs, priced at £1, which Co-op says promise to 'bring a taste of South Africa's iconic Speckled Eggs to UK shoppers for the very first time.' The 80g treat contains chewy blackcurrant-flavoured jellybeans covered in milk chocolate and a sugar shell.
