Clarks launches 'walking on pillows' trainers that are surprisingly affordable
Clarks launches 'walking on pillows' trainers at affordable price

Clarks has launched a new pair of trainers with the brand's 'softest ever' soles, priced at £55. The Solevana Tie trainers are part of Clarks' Dreamsteppers range and are so comfortable they feel like walking on a pillow.

The high-street retailer recently introduced the ultra-lightweight, highly cushioned trainers, designed for all-day comfort. Shoppers are quickly snapping them up, according to the retailer.

Design and features

The Solevana Tie trainers come in nine colours - seafoam green, black, navy, dusty pink, mauve, rose pink, off white, light blue and sand - in sizes four to eight, with select half sizes available.

The trainers are designed to restore and recharge feet with every step. They are made for everyone, from those busy on their feet at work to those going for a casual stroll on the weekend. Breathable uppers keep things cool and fresh, while Clarks' signature toe-box fit gives toes the freedom to move naturally. The featherlight foam outsoles absorb impact and help wearers to push forward.

Shopper reviews

The Solevana Tie trainers have racked up an overall star-rating of 4.8 out of five based on almost 20 reviews. One satisfied shopper said: "Excellent, very comfortable. I really like these trainers. These trainers are the best lightweight shoes I have ever had. They are very comfortable, love them."

A second wrote: "These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever bought. Really pleased with them and have recommended them to many of my friends." A third penned: "These are the best ever trainers that I have bought anywhere. I wear them to work and I keep them all day instead of changing to my office shoes because they are soooo comfortable. I love them."

Practical considerations

As the Solevana Tie trainers are made from a breathable fabric upper, they are not ideal for wearing in adverse weather. The lighter colour options especially will be prone to staining and attracting dirt, meaning frequent cleaning may be required.

Nevertheless, another shopper added: "Really happy with these. Lightweight, cool and flexible with lovely roomy toe box. Removable insole so you can use your own orthotics. They look pretty good too." Somebody else simply stated: "Marvellous for our holiday."

To increase durability, Clarks' Rain & Stain protector is available for £8. The protective product casts an invisible veil over shoes to stop unwelcome elements from permeating the surface.

Elsewhere, Fitflop has knocked 50% off its RTG Leather/Suede Trainers, now available for £45 down from £90. Marks and Spencer's Leather Stripe Trainers come in three colours and are priced at £50.
