Morrisons has launched its Christmas advert today, a Goldilocks and the Three Bears-themed campaign, as the battle of the retailers' festive offerings intensifies. Viewers have already been picking favourites, with many crowning Marks & Spencer's effort as the winner so far.
Latest Campaigns and Viewer Favourites
After a flurry of ad launches in the past week, people have been getting into the festive mood by reviewing the offerings and selecting their top choice. The John Lewis Christmas ad landed last Monday, featuring Slow Horses star Dame Kristin Scott Thomas as grandmother Gloria, who is trying to find the perfect gift for her hard-to-please grandchildren.
Some say it is easily bettered by Lidl's effort, featuring Shaun Williamson (Barry from EastEnders) belting out Slade's iconic anthem Merry Christmas Everybody with a special value twist.
Marks & Spencer and Other Contenders
But the advert many say is the Christmas number one is Marks & Spencer's. It features James Norton as an undercover Santa, with Amandaland favourite Lucy Punch and music icon Katherine Jenkins, who performs the soundtrack, a cover of Belinda Carlisle's Heaven Is a Place on Earth.
There are plenty of other contenders to consider. Barbour wheeled out national treasures Wallace and Gromit, while Sports Direct featured Erling Haaland and rapper Aitch helping to pick out presents. Sainsbury's has reunited with Roald Dahl's BFG, who has to ensure no one misses out this Christmas.
