Queues formed outside the new Chopstix noodle bar in Gateshead's Trinity Square as it opened its doors to customers for the first time on Thursday. The quick-service restaurant and takeaway, which has taken over the former Select clothes shop, attracted crowds eager to try its Asian-inspired menu.
Launch Day Offers and Atmosphere
Those queuing from the 11am opening time were drawn by a special launch day offer of 99p noodle boxes. The event also included 1,000 free portions of spring rolls, a DJ, prizes, and discounts, adding to the celebratory mood.
Menu and Operating Hours
The new Chopstix, which introduced a branch to Newcastle last year, is known for chicken dishes such as salt 'n' pepper, katsu curry, and caramel drizzle versions. The Gateshead addition is said to have created more than 20 jobs and will be open daily from 10.30am until 10pm.
Company Growth and Response
There are more than 140 Chopstix locations nationwide. Gareth Brannigan, the company's head of store openings, said the team are "blown away" by the response from customers to each new branch. Describing the noodle bar as offering "a quick, tasty and affordable option" for on-the-go food, he added: "It’s a really exciting time for our business as a whole and we’re excited to welcome our local fans to the store." The new restaurant can seat 90 diners and its dishes are also available for delivery and click and collect via the Chopstix website and app, as well as through platforms including UberEats, Deliveroo, and Just Eat.
