Burgerism review: Manchester burger quest starts with 4.5/5

The quest to find the best burger in Manchester has begun, and the first stop, Burgerism at Piccadilly Gardens, has set a high bar with a 4.5/5 score. Founded by Mark Murphy in 2018 in Salford, Greater Manchester, Burgerism has won numerous awards, including being named one of Britain's best burger spots.

Menu and Price

The menu at Burgerism keeps things simple, offering single or double variants of beefed, cheesed, and baconed burgers, plus chicken or vegan options. Sides include chicken wings with a selection of sauces and skin-on fries, with salted chocolate or seasonal brownies also available.

The standard Burgerism Meal, which includes any two patty burger, fries, and a drink, was priced at £12.95 for a double bacon burger, chips, and a can of coke. A Lunch Meal, available until 4pm, offers any regular burger and fries for £9.95.

The Burger and Chips

The burger impressed with melted cheese, a bun that held everything together, crispy bacon, and crunchy lettuce. It took just under five minutes to eat, with breaks taken to savour it. The only negative was the burger sauce, which didn't stand out.

The skin-on fries were described as fluffy, with a seasoning that made them taste like a superior version of KFC's chips.

Staff and Overall Score

The staff at the Piccadilly Gardens branch were noted as very nice, with one staff member on early Wednesday evening (October 7) singled out for ensuring the reviewer was aware of all the best deals. The overall score was 4.5/5, with the reviewer stating they'd be surprised if another burger overtakes it anytime soon.
