Manchester United are preparing to confirm the signing of Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco on July 13, when he turns 18, while reports from Turkey claim Galatasaray are eyeing a move for Bruno Fernandes. However, the United captain is expected to remain at Old Trafford under manager Michael Carrick.
Orozco deal close to completion
United secured an agreement for the Fortaleza CEIF prospect last September but have had to wait until he reaches the minimum age for international registration. According to the Mirror, Orozco will arrive in Manchester before July 13 to begin his adaptation, including English lessons. His playing style has drawn comparisons to Chelsea's Moises Caicedo.
Orozco is viewed as a player for the future and will initially join United's under-21 ranks. However, given the club's Champions League commitments, Carrick may rotate heavily in the Carabao Cup, offering the youngster a potential senior opportunity.
Bruno Fernandes to Galatasaray unlikely
Turkish outlet TRT Sport claims Galatasaray are preparing an ambitious swoop for Fernandes, waiting until Portugal's World Cup campaign ends before formalising their pursuit. Yet the 31-year-old appears settled under Carrick, with progress made in the latter half of last season. Fernandes came close to leaving for the Saudi Pro League in summer 2025 but is now relishing captaining the side in the Champions League.
His contract runs until next summer, with an option for an additional year, and he is more inclined to finish his career at United, dismissing any switch to Galatasaray or elsewhere.
Midfield rebuild under Carrick
United have already secured Ederson from Atalanta to bolster the midfield after Casemiro's exit. Carrick, given the permanent managerial role, is set to receive substantial financial support in the transfer market. The midfield remains a priority area, with several high-profile exits possible as the summer window progresses.
