A woman from Worcestershire was horrified to find a pair of worn pants stuffed inside a new £32 dress she ordered from Pretty Little Thing. Grace Willetts, 22, discovered the 'filthy knickers' as she unpacked her holiday haul, which also reeked of body odour.
Discovery of the Contaminated Dress
Grace ordered the dress from Pretty Little Thing ahead of her trip to Majorca, Spain. The package arrived on July 6, and she immediately noticed something wrong with the Chocolate Hotfix Bandeau Maxi Dress. 'I was confused why the fabric felt so bunched up. It also had a strong smell of body odour,' she said. When she unravelled the dress, she found a pair of dirty pants inside.
'I felt so sick after it,' Grace told creatorzine.com. 'Just the fact there's actual bodily fluids there and I could have touched it not knowing who that even belongs to.' She said the incident left her 'shocked and disgusted,' questioning how it could have happened.
Social Media Reaction and Return Process
Grace posted a video of her revolting find online, which quickly amassed over 150,000 views. She contacted Pretty Little Thing about the issue. According to Grace, the company asked her to send the dress back via their standard returns process if she did not 'wish' to keep it.
'I was really annoyed about this response because it just was like it's a normal thing for them,' Grace said. 'Shocking, why on earth would I want to keep a dirty dress. I think it's disgusting from Pretty Little Thing and it needs to be taken more seriously, sending somebody a contaminated parcel with someone's actual bodily fluids on.'
Impact on Customer Trust
The incident has deterred Grace from purchasing further items from the fast fashion brand. She expressed anger at how the company handled the situation, citing a 'lack of bother or urgency.' Jam Press has reached out to Pretty Little Thing for a comment, but no response has been reported.
