BrewDog is giving away free pints across the UK starting today, July 20, as part of a £1 million bar tab promotion. The offer runs until September 30 or until the money runs out, allowing customers to claim two free pints per person by signing up to the BrewDog Treats loyalty scheme.
How the Free Pints Promotion Works
The giveaway was initially launched last month with a condition that the free drinks would be unlocked if England, Scotland, or the USA reached the FIFA World Cup final. None of the three teams made the final—England lost in the semi-finals to Argentina—but BrewDog decided to honour the promotion anyway.
To claim the free beers, customers must sign up to BrewDog Treats and show their Treats QR code at participating BrewDog pubs. Existing Treats members will automatically find the offer added to their digital wallet, while new customers can sign up online before visiting a venue. The free pints are available on a first-come, first-served basis while the £1 million tab lasts, subject to stock availability.
Background on BrewDog’s Ownership
The giveaway comes months after Tilray Brands bought BrewDog out of administration in a £33 million deal. Tilray has since invested £50 million into the business. Meanwhile, BrewDog co-founder James Watt has submitted an offer to buy back parts of the company through his new drinks venture, Second Bes.
Statement from BrewDog’s CEO
Irwin Simon, chairman and chief executive of BrewDog owner Tilray Brands, said: "The greatest moments in sport are not defined only by the scoreline or the team that lifts the trophy; they are defined by the people who come together to share them. Football has an extraordinary way of filling pubs, sparking conversation and turning every match into a shared moment. The £1 million bar tab is our way of keeping that energy alive."
