Bodycare's 70s High-Street Store Returns With Modern Makeover
Bodycare Returns With Modern Makeover

Bodycare, the nostalgic high-street store from the 70s, has made a major comeback with a modern makeover. A beauty fan was invited to preview the new-look store before its public opening and was left floored by how amazing it looked compared to when she was a teen.

Leila Nikea confessed she used to "shop there every single week" and had been invited to preview the revamped store ahead of its public opening. She was absolutely stunned by how incredible it appeared compared to her teenage years. She paid a visit to the Bodycare branch in Derby.

From Depressing to Vibrant

Previously, the shop's décor looked a bit "depressing" thanks to its black-and-grey colour scheme. It also lacked the character found in rival high street beauty retailers. Yet now there was vibrancy, brand-new stock, and Leila declared it was "so much better than it used to be".

There was a massive selection of face masks available, plus even a Korean skincare area. A member of staff informed her that in this section, nothing carried a price tag above £16, making it perfect for those seeking a bargain. Medicube products and Biodance were stocked too, alongside a dedicated lip care zone, and even a section of the shop devoted to tackling blemishes.

New Features and Stock

Die-hard Bodycare fans will be astounded to discover that Fenty Beauty is now available in branches, which simply demonstrates the scale of the brand's transformation! They even stocked miniature versions ideal for travelling, including all the essentials you'd need on holiday or a staycation, such as mini toothpastes. Fragrances were also available in abundance.

On top of that, the store boasted a piercing studio and a TikTok live studio, allowing staff to go live while customers browsed the shelves. Leila said she'd "definitely be going in there a lot more often" following the revamp. In the comments, one person wrote: "I'm so glad they've brightened it up, it was so dull in there". Another commented: "Omg I have to go check this one out, as a fellow Derby girl I'm mad excited!" While a fourth chimed in: "Ooo body care never looked like this! I hope mine gets a revamp!".

History of Bodycare

Bodycare is a longstanding British value health-and-beauty retailer, widely recognised for its smaller high-street and shopping-centre outlets selling toiletries, cosmetics, fragrance, haircare, personal care products, and a variety of household essentials at discounted prices. Originally founded from a market stall in Lancashire in 1970, the chain grew into a high-street staple renowned for its cut-price toiletries, cosmetics, and everyday essentials.

In late 2025, Bodycare encountered serious financial troubles and fell into administration, resulting in the closure of all its approximately 150 stores across the UK and the loss of around 1,000 jobs. The brand was rescued in October 2025 by an investment group headed up by Charles Denton, the former CEO of The Body Shop and Molton Brown.

Under its new leadership, Bodycare is now staging an impressive comeback in 2026. The revamped high-street offering blends its affordable everyday essentials with exciting new features, including K-beauty ranges, premium fragrances, dedicated piercing studios, and free-to-use spaces for content creators. Judging by Leila's video, it looks absolutely brilliant — and plenty of shoppers will be eager to pay a visit once a store opens near them.
