Delve Bistro in Greater Manchester Closes Suddenly After 76 Years

A beloved bistro and bar in the historic village of Delph, Saddleworth, has closed with immediate effect, leaving customers devastated. Owner Jamie Collins announced the closure of Delve on March 18, just weeks after putting the business up for sale.

Mr Collins cited 'personal and professional factors' for the difficult decision, without providing further details. In a social media post, he expressed gratitude for support and confirmed that all suppliers and staff would be paid in full. Customers with unused gift vouchers can redeem them at a sister site, Diggle Lock, or request a full refund via email.

The closure comes amid ongoing challenges for the hospitality industry, including increased employer National Insurance contributions, minimum wage rises, and high energy costs. Some customers speculated on political causes, but no direct link was confirmed.

Patrons expressed sadness online, describing Delve as a 'fantastic place' with 'superb food' and lamenting the loss of a venue where they had 'great times'. The restaurant had been located in a former bank and was known for seasonal produce and an eclectic brunch menu.
