Owner Anna Williams has confirmed that Nook and Cranny, a beloved café in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, will close its doors at the end of July. The decision, she says, was not her own and was taken out of her hands.
Not a result of poor sales or financial difficulties
In a statement on Instagram, Williams expressed her heartbreak, stating: "This closure is not the result of poor sales, financial difficulties or lack of support from our customers. In fact, quite the opposite." The café, which opened in 2024 inside a quirky outbuilding off a side street, quickly built a loyal following that traveled miles to visit.
Owner's emotional announcement
Williams wrote: "This is the hardest post I have ever had to write. But, I have some difficult news that I need to share. Nook and Cranny will be closing its doors at the end of July. This is not a decision I have made, nor one I wanted to make. To be honest, I am completely heartbroken."
She added: "Anyone who has been a part of this journey will know I have thrown my heart and soul into this business. And I had never expected the journey would end like this." Despite the closure, Williams highlighted the community built around the café: "While I am devastated about this outcome, no one can ever take away the amazing community we have built here."
Final weeks and customer support
Nook and Cranny still has several weeks before vacating the premises, with further details expected soon. Williams concluded: "I would love to see as many of you as possible, and any support you can give in this last month would mean the world."
