All 18 Beefeater and Brewers Fayre sites in Scotland will permanently close from September 3, with customers given just seven days to use their loyalty points before the scheme ends.
The closures follow a major restructuring plan by owner Whitbread PLC, which will see it exit the restaurant industry entirely. Across the UK, 196 outlets will shut down.
Loyalty Points Deadline
Customers have been advised that the loyalty scheme for both restaurants will officially close on Monday, August 31. Points must be collected by today (Monday, August 24) and converted into vouchers that need to be used by next week's deadline. Any remaining points will expire at 7am on Tuesday, September 2.
The deadline also covers points earned at sister restaurants in Scotland owned by Whitbread PLC, including two Table Table branches, one Cookhouse+ and two Bar + Block sites.
Statement from Brewers Fayre
A statement on the Brewers Fayre website reads: "As you may have seen, we have recently announced changes to our business, which will result in the closure of our Branded Restaurants in September, which include: Beefeater, Table Table, Cookhouse + Pub, Whitbread Inns and Bar + Block."
"Therefore, points must be collected (or receipt details added) by Monday 24 August 2026 and then converted into your points-based vouchers and used by Monday 31 August 2026. Points are valid for 12 months before they expire. However, at 7am Tuesday 1 September 2026, all remaining points balances will expire."
Impact of the Closures
The closures are part of Whitbread PLC's five-year strategy to overhaul its business by exiting the restaurant industry, with reports suggesting it could save the company £250 million. The plan will see restaurants converted into additional Premier Inn rooms, with around £1.5 billion worth of freehold properties sold off to fund growth. The group currently owns approximately 86,600 hotel rooms and intends to increase this to 96,000 by the 2031 financial year.
The changes will result in around 3,800 staff members losing their jobs. The business, which employs around 15,000 colleagues per year, has said it aims to redeploy many affected employees within its wider business.
