Asda has introduced its first fixed-price meal deal, priced at £3.74 for a main, snack, and drink. The offer is available to all shoppers without requiring a loyalty card, replacing the previous three-for-two deal at its Food to Go counters.
The supermarket claims customers can save up to 50% compared to buying items individually. The deal includes 132 mains, 336 snacks, and 222 drinks, ranging from own-brand classics like the Chicken and Bacon Sandwich to branded favourites such as Doritos and Coca-Cola Zero. It is available in all Asda supermarkets and its 478 Express convenience stores.
Amy Wotherspoon, Asda's Buyer of Food to Go, said: “At Asda, we believe great value should be available to everyone. That’s why we’re launching the new £3.74 Meal Deal that is completely open to all customers – with no app or membership required.”
The new deal undercuts competitors: Tesco’s meal deal costs £3.85 with a Clubcard and £4.25 without, while Sainsbury’s charges £3.95 and Morrisons £4. Asda’s current best-selling main is its Cheese & Onion Sandwich, priced at £1.42, selling over 50,000 units weekly.
In related news, Asda plans to refurbish 180 in-store cafes as part of a £180 million investment, introducing digital ordering screens, table service, and a new menu featuring smashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, and 12-inch pizzas.
