Asda has launched its Christmas advertising campaign with a high-energy twist, replacing traditional festive carols with dance music and pyro-crackers. The campaign, unveiled today, centres on celebrating Christmas with all the trimmings without the eye-watering cost.
Campaign Highlights and Creative Direction
The adverts feature larger-than-life scenes set to a remix of Martin Garrix's 'Animals', a high-energy dance anthem that breaks away from the usual festive soundtrack. Each of the four 30-second adverts begins with classic moments such as decorating the house or laying the table, which then transform into more raucous celebrations.
Highlights include a mum riding a giant pyro-cracker, someone dressed as a giant bauble, and a grandad transported to a rave. The campaign carries the slogan 'All of Christmas at Asda Price. BOOM!' and showcases a range of products, including a 7ft pre-lit tree for £50, matching George Christmas jumpers from £10, and Exceptional Prosecco for £7.75.
Customer Value and Promotions
Asda is also offering seven families the chance to win a £500 voucher to help cover the cost of Christmas on its social channels, with one winner picked each weekend from Friday until December 18.
Tom Hampson, group marketing director at Asda, said: 'The reality is that our customers don't want less Christmas, they just want Christmas for less. They still want the great food, thoughtful gifts, festive treats, decorations and all the traditions that make the season feel special, but without the worry that they're spending more than they have.'
Broadcast and Social Media
The first two films are online now and will air tonight on ITV1 during Emmerdale and during The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. To be in with a chance of winning a £500 voucher, customers can visit Asda's Facebook and Instagram pages.
